Payment and timescales.

This log was milled in January 2021. The boards have been cleaned, sticked, stacked and weighted with great care, the end grain has been sealed and they are in a barn with excellent air circulation to season.

We normally suggest at least 1 year – 18months per inch of thickness when it comes to air drying Oak. However during milling, we found that the level of sap/moisture within the log was very low, it also seems that there is very little tension in the timber (probably due to the age of the tree). With the intended use as single piece slab table tops we think the boards would be ready to be taken for pre-work conditioning in early 2023.

These boards have created a large amount of interest already and we don’t expect them to hang around for very long given their unique nature. If you would like to reserve one we are asking for a 25% upfront deposit to be placed to mark the board as sold, then the remainder to be paid prior or on collection in early 2023. We are also able to take instalment payments.

If you would like to pay for the board in full to take and finish seasoning yourself, we are also happy for this to happen.

Serious buyers would also be welcome to come and select the perfect board in person. Because of the size of these boards it is a case of multiple pairs of hands and time consuming work with a machine to take these out of stack, we hope our customers can understand this.
