We have chosen to begin supplying American Black Walnut timber at 1.5″/40mm. The stock we have is prime grade, kiln dried and square edge. This is a timber we have been regularly using in our own furniture works, so we have ensured the quality of the stock is to a high level.

American Black Walnut is a pleasure to work with. The colour and grain are a strikingly rich dark brown to purple with a creamy brown sap wood. It also both machines and hand works up very well. A superb finish can be achieved in Walnut! Not only is it a great timber to use on its own, Black Walnut is also excellent for small inlays and detailing, creating a fantastic contrast when partnered with timbers such as Oak.

The stock has been steamed to match the sap/heartwood colouration, which does reduce the sharp contrast but the difference is still visible.
