Here you can find information on the English Beech timber which we sourced from the Chatsworth estate just 15 miles from our workshop in Edale.
We have milled a variety of thicknesses, from the 5/8″ up to 4″. We are able to offer it for sale at a very reasonable rate.
Often Beech is considered boring, the widely available stock is steamed and has a pinkish colouration. Our English Beech is mainly clear white, but some also shows some beautiful flaming. Ideal for turning projects from legs, splindles to bowls etc.
We also experimented with Quarter Sawing a log to 15mm thickness. Beech displays some very subtle but beautiful medullary ray figuring, perfect for panels or even drawer sides!
